New Bonaventure is one of the Trinity Bight Communities. Drive south from Trinity on a very windy rough road to the end and you’ll arrive at New Bonaventure.
New Bonaventure is where you will find a bar called Joe’s Place, part of the set used in the movie ‘The Grand Seduction’ in the fictional town of Tickle Head. If you haven’t seen it, search it on demand and settle into a movie you’ll love. The bar was built for the movie and was kept by the community as an attraction.
Just over the hill from New Bonaventure you’ll find the fictional town of Cape Random, built for the TV mini-series Random Passage. At the top of that hill is a beautiful white wooden church and a former one-room school house. The school house is now a gift shop/tea room/ticket office for the Random Passage site. We had never seen the TV series and were able to buy a CD to watch the series, after we had toured the set.
