The Bear Cove Lookout Trail head is in the Ocean View Park in Leading Tickles. You reach Leading Tickles by taking Hwy 350 north from the Trans Canada, east of Bishops Falls. Just follow the road, cross over the causeway, up over the hill and on your right!
The trail has boardwalks in a number of places. You begin to climb immediately, but it is not difficult. At one part snow mobile treads (from various models) have been used to provide traction on a steep slope. In Newfoundland there is a solution for everything.
Near the top of the ridge you leave the forest and come to a lookout platform. The views are 360 degrees of Notre Dame Bay and Leading Tickles. In the spring this is a great spot for iceberg and whale viewing. The locals can let you know whats in sight.
