Goose Cove is at the end of the Viking Trail, Route 430, just south of St. Anthony. There is also a Goose Cove near Trinity. On Google maps they call it Goose Cove East. I have no idea why, all local signs just say Goose Cove.
The community was originally named Petit Oie, which is French for “small goose”. It was an important harbour along the French Shore. In the summer of 1857, there were 256 French fishermen in Petit Oie.
There is a trail in town at the end of the road called the Pumley Cove Trail.
