Grandois (pronounced ‘GRAND-swah’) is 10 km down gravel Route 438 from Croque. The community is also referred to as St. Julien’s or Grandois-St. Julien’s.
The harbour was an important part of the French Shore, because of it’s proximity to Croque. Bricks from French bread ovens, graves and engravings have been found throughout the area.
The fish plant operated until 1992 when the fishing moratorium ended the cod fishery. The community, like Croque is still hanging on. The entire area is steeped in history.
