Champney’s West is part of the group of communities known as Trinity Bight. Take Route 230 from the Trans Canada towards Bonavista. Chapney’s West is on Route 230, just east of the exit for Trinity. You’ll probably notice signs for the Aquarium. Just follow to the Champney’s West Aquarium.
The Aquarium is a beautiful facility, well worth a visit. You’ll see fish and creatures that live along the shores of the Bonavista Peninsula. A guide will give you a very informed walk through the displays. They have touch tanks, where you can put your hand in and see what a starfish feels like. They have a rare blue lobster on display, which is a one in two million occurrence.
If you go over the the wharf in Champney’s West, you’ll be treated to a beautiful line-up of red stages.
The Aquarium is next to a large rock formation they call Indian Head. If you look back at it from the hill coming into town, you’ll see the likeness.
