Birding by Season is a wonderful service run by our friend Janice Flynn. Janice offers a birding experience for enthusiasts and more casual bird watchers like ourselves.
Janice will tailor a bird watching outing to suit your interests and schedule. She likes to start very early for the best experience. We weren’t ready for a 6 AM start, so Janice set up our time a little later 🙂 .
Our adventure included three birding hotspots in the Codroy Valley. We went down the Wetlands Trail from Upper Ferry. We visited Searston Beach (where we saw a seal). We finished off our day at Loch Lomond Pond.
Janice also arranges tours near Stephenville and on the Port-au-Port Peninsula. Janice is a joy to hike with. Her specialty is recognizing songs. You’ll often hear a bird first and than wait patiently to see it. Bring your binoculars, a camera, a bottle of water and a snack.
