Lumsden

Lumsden is all about beaches. We’ve seen long sand beaches in Newfoundland, but no beaches as deep as they are in Lumsden.

There is a loop you can drive from Gander to Gambo using Route 330 and 320. Lumsden is about half way around that loop.

Lumsden has four white sandy beaches; Back Beach, North Side Beach, South Side Beach and Windmill Bight Beach. North Side Beach is on quite a large sand peninsula that contains an RV Campground and several cottages. Nearby Windmill Bight Park also has RV sites.

Lumsden is on iceberg alley, so if you visit in early June, you’ll have a pretty good chance of spotting one in the area. If you are staying in Gander, Twillingate or Gambo, Lumsden makes a nice day trip. If you decide to stay in Lumsden, there is lots to see and do nearby.
