Norris Point and Neddy Harbour are just south of the Gros Morne Visitors Centre. Norris Point sits on Bonne Bay where the bay separates into the South Arm and the East Arm.
If you are driving into the north side of Gros Morne National Park on Route 430, just turn at the road for the Visitor’s Centre. Follow that road to Pond Road. Turn left and drive into Norris Point. Pond Road becomes Main Street. You can also get to Norris Point easily from Rocky Harbour. Just take Pond Road south from Main Street in Rocky Harbour.
Watch for Jenniex House on your right as you drive into Norris Point. This is a must stop. The view of Bonne Bay and The Tablelands from here is spectacular. Jenniex House is a traditional salt box house that was moved to this location. It is both a gift shop and a museum. The friendly staff here will give you the history and tell you all about the area.
From Jenniex House, continue through town on Main Street. It ends at the harbour right where the Bonne Bay Boat Tour departs. For the tour you board the Emm Cat. This is one of the boat tours in Gros Morne that you won’t want to miss. We took the tour and saw hump back whales and bald eagles. They sail by Woody Point across the bay towards the end of the tour. The crew closes the tour with a live musical show.
There is also a water taxi that connects Norris Point and Woody Point during the summer season. You can go over for a day trip, Woody Point is a great place to walk around with some nice restaurants and gift stores, all close to the dock.
If you are looking for lunch or a coffee in Norris Point, we’d recommend the Old Store Cafe. They have great food in a very comfortable setting.
The Bonne Bay Marine Station is on Bonne Bay, right next to the Bonne Bay Boat Tour dock. The station has tanks where you can see the fish and species that can be found in Bonne Bay. They give guided tours that are very interesting and informative.
