English Harbour West is part of the amalgamated community of St. Jacques-Coomb’s Cove. The town also includes St. Jacques, Boxey, Mose Ambrose, Wreck Cove and Coomb’s Cove. The town hall is in English Harbour West.
In case you are wondering, there is an English Harbour East, also on Fortune Bay. By road it’s a 6 hour drive.
The town is just south of Route 363, which runs between Belleoram and Coomb’s Cove. You drive into town on Ocean Drive on the west side of the harbour. The town wraps around the harbour. Eastern Point Road takes you to the other side of the harbour.
The first thing we noticed were the yellow wooden warehouses on the other side of the harbour. The buildings are now being used as a lumber yard. If you head over to check out the warehouses, you’ll find the sea cave.
