Mount Arlington Heights is part of the amalgamated community of Long Harbour – Mount Arlington Heights. It’s on the west side of the Avalon Peninsula, on Placentia Bay, near the Argentia Ferry Terminal. Take Route 202 south from the Trans Canada. If you are coming from Argentia/Placentia take Route 100 and then go north on Route 101.
All the roads in the area have been recently re-paved, probably due to the new nickle processing facility that’s been built. Nickel concentrate from Voisey’s Bay in Labrador are shipped to Long Harbour to be processed into nickel, copper and cobalt.
Mount Arlington Heights is squeezed between a mountain and a large inlet called Long Harbour. The town has a small crafts harbour and there is some fishing activity.
Just up the road and across from the town of Long Harbour, you can see the new nickle processing facility.
