Piccadilly

Piccadilly is a community on the Port-au-Port Peninsula. The name will show up over a wide geographical area as you drive along. There is a nice campground called the Piccadilly Regional Campground in Piccadilly.

Driving west from the park entrance, the road brings you closer to shore, you will see the pictured green/blue house on your left. A few seconds later on your left also, you will come to a yellow house, that is deserted. You are able to park here according to the instructions given to me by a local. If you walk back to the green/blue house and cross the street to the coast side you will come to an embankment that lets you access the beach. This is not marked although plans to do so are in the works. When you get to the beach turn to your left and walk for about 5 minutes. On the cliff face you will see the Folded Rocks. This formation is also called the Faults & Folds of West Bay Beach.

Further west, a few minutes, still on Route 463 is The Parkview Variety. Here you can get fuel of both kinds, gas and alcohol. The gentleman here was the one who gave us the directions to find the Folded Rocks. Make sure you take a walk through his store. The range of things he has for sale is astounding. This is not your typical variety store.

While we were in Mainland on the west end of the Port-au-Port Peninsula we were referred to a restaurant in Piccadilly for dinner. As it was mid June access to a cooked meal was limited. Off we went to Oliver’s Restaurant. Oliver’s is south of the Piccadilly Regional Campground on Route 463 about 6 km. We were served a great fish dinner, by a very entertaining waitress in a very clean and stylish restaurant.
