Back Harbour | Twillingate

Back Harbour is a former village that is now part of Twillingate. Back Harbour is on North Twilligate Island. The actual harbour is on the west side of the island.

Take Main Street through town and turn left onto Back Harbour Road, at the top of a hill. If you follow the signs for Peyton’s Woods RV Park, you’ll be in Back Harbour. When you get to the ‘T’, turn left onto Dock Road. You’ll find several pretty stages and stores (sheds). On Back Harbour Road you’ll find a couple of beautifully restored salt box houses.

There’s quite a prominent head in Back Harbour, joined up with a gravel isthmus. You can hike out to the head. There’s an ATV trail to the top. If you are walking, you can zig-zag up to the top.

Back Harbour is also a great place to see spectacular sunsets.
