When you visit the Long Point Lighthouse near Twillingate, you can also check out some great hiking trails. The trail head for hiking to Nanny’s Hole, Sleepy Cove and Lower Head is located just to the left of the viewing platform at the north end of Route 340.
The trails are will maintained and not overly difficult. There are quite a few stairs. From the viewing platform, you can see the trail to Nanny’s Hole, which is a the bottom of the cliff the lookout is perched on.
If you decide to do some hiking, allow at least an hour. Remember to take along a bottle of water. You’ll see sea birds for sure, also watch for eagles, seals and whales. In June, there is a good chance you’ll also see icebergs.
