From Deer Lake, Take Route 430 (The Viking Trail) towards Gros Morne National Park. At Wiltondale, turn left on Route 431 towards Trout River to explore the south side of the park. Places below are arranged in the order you’d come to them.
This is the site of the former town of Lomond and a wood mill that was built in 1916 by the St. Lawrence Timber, Pulp & Steamship Company.
Paynes Cove is the former site of Stanleyville. It was a small logging town that existed in the early 1900’s.
The Lookout Trail starts from the Discovery Centre parking lot in the south side of Gros Morne National Park.
The Post Office says Bonne Bay, but it’s Woody Point. Bonne Bay, NL is made up of Woody Point, Curzon Village and Winter House Brook.
The Tablelands is a large mountainous area in the southern half of Gros Morne National Park.
The Eastern Point Trail takes you along the top ridge that over looks Trout River from the north side.
The Lighthouse Old Man Trail runs on top of a bluff that overlooks Trout River from the south.
Trout River Pond is one of Gros Morne National Park’s best kept secrets. Take the zodiac tour 16 km to the end of the pond.
