When you drive into the Town of Fogo, the prominent geographic feature you see is Brimstone Head. There is a trail that takes you to a wooden platform on top of the head, with an amazing 360° view.
The local Lion’s club runs a community park at the base of Brimstone Head. Drive through town and follow the signs for the RV Park. There’s lots of room to park your vehicle before your hike.
The hike is a good workout. There are well maintained stairs for most of the climbing. On some sections of the hike, you are next to steep drop-offs. Chain railings give you something to hang onto.
The Flat Earth Society considers Brimstone Head to be one of the four corners of the flat earth. A warning sign greets you at the start of the trail.
You are nearing the edge of the flat earth. One false step could be your last. Number of people lost to date “0”.
While you climb the trail you have some incredible views of Fogo. When you get to the top, you are looking out towards Change Islands.
