Greenspond consists of a number of islands at the end of Hwy 320-33. You take Hwy 320 north from the TransCanada at Gambo. The distance from Gambo is about 75 km.
A causeway takes you to Greenspond Island, the largest in the group. 2 other islands connected by small bridges are also inhabited.
This place is magical! Homes perched among the rocks, an amazing collection of heritage homes, a number of trails and lookouts and the ocean all around you.
First settled in the 1690’s, Greenspond grew into a major trading centre, referred to as “The Capital of the North”. Cod Fishing and seal hunting were large contributors to the local economy.
Take your time driving around the islands and enjoy all there is to see. You will want to make a stop at Ida’s Place on Wing’s Island for a cup of tea and the best scones ever!
