Bonavista Peninsula

Drive into the Bonavista Peninsula on Route 230 which takes you all the way to Cape Bonavista, return on Route 235. Places are arranged in the order you’ll come to them.

Brooklyn is a small community on the Bonavista Peninsula near Lethbridge. Drive through and see a beautiful wooden church and several heritage homes. Click here for more photos of Brooklyn.

St. James Anglican Church is in Jamestown on Route 234 between Brooklyn and Winter Brook.

Sweet Bay is a few km off Route 230 on the Bonavista Peninsula.

Trinity’s Merchant buildings were once some of the most important business operations in Newfoundland.

There is lots to see in Trinity. This page is about the two historic churches.

You can see the lighthouse at Fort Point when you are in Trinity.

Trouty is south of Trinity on the road to New Bonaventure.

Old Bonaventure is one of the Trinity Bight communities on Route 239, just around the corner from New Bonaventure.

Joe’s Place in New Bonaventure was the bar used in the movie ‘The Grand Seduction’ in the fictional town of Tickle Head, NL.

You can tour the set of the mini-series Random Passage near New Bonaventure. The set is a replica of a colonial Newfoundland fishing outport. They created the fictional outport of Cape Random. The site was actually the community of White Point prior to the 1960’s.

Port Rexton is home to a really cool micro-brewery.

Trinity East is the town you see across the harbour from Trinity.

Champney’s West is one of the Trinity Bight communities. You’ll find The Aquarium, Indian Head and some beautiful stages.

Elliston is where you want to go to see root cellars and The Sealer’s Memorial. To see Puffins, drive into Elliston and then head towards Maberly.

The Puffin Viewing Area is in Sandy Cove, between Elliston and Maberly.

Maberly is just down the road from Elliston and the Puffin Viewing Area.

The town of Bonavista sits on the tip on the Bonavista Peninsula. Major attractions in town include The Ryan Premises, The Matthew Legacy and The Mockbeggar Plantation. Click here for more information about the town of Bonavista.

The Matthew Legacy Exhibit is in the town of Bonavista. A replica of John Cabot’s ship ‘The Matthew’ is on display.

Landfall Park is just down the road from the Cape Bonavista Lighthouse.

Cape Bonavista is where you will find the famous lighthouse, Landfall Park and Dungeon Provincial Park.

Dungeon Provincial Park is off the road that takes you to the Cape Bonavista Lighthouse.

Spillars Cove is close to the town of Bonavista and Dungeon Provincial Park.

Upper Amherst Cove is home to a great restaurant called the Bonavista Social Club.

King’s Cove on Route 235 is where you will find the King’s Cove Lighthouse Trail.

Keel’s is the home of Clayton’s Chip Truck and the Devil’s Footprints, just down the road from King’s Cove.

Open Hall is on the same road as Red Cliff and Tickle Cove.

Red Cliff is where the famous cricket scene was filmed for the movie ‘The Grand Seduction’.

Tickle Cove is on the same road as Open Hall and Red Cliff. You’ll find an amazing Sea Arch and Molly Tobin’s painted rock quilt.

Summerville is on Route 235. If you are there in the fall, there is a great trail for picking blueberries.

Princeton is a pretty community on Route 235.
